Center for Catholic Education at UD

Catholic Education at the National Level

Susan Ferguson, the Director for the Center for Catholic Education, has been invited to serve as a consultant for the Committee on Catholic Education for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. This committee gives guidance for the Church in the United States in terms of the educational mission in all institutional settings. The main duties of this committee will be in Catholic schools from kindergarten all the way through colleges and universities, as well as campus ministry programs.

There are very few consultants on the committee across the United States that work closely with the seven bishops. This honor is a three year commitment and will span from 2017-2020. The committee ensures that federal public policies are consistent with the values of the Catholic Church in terms of education. Susan was “quickly recommended” by Archbishop Schnurr for this position as stated in the initial letter.

Here at the Center for Catholic Education, we are elated at this news as Susan is well deserving and worthy of this prestigious honor. Her many years of experience in Catholic education make her the perfect fit for this team of dedicated individuals. We are so proud to have her as our leader here at the Center, and now in the national stage for Catholic education. Susan’s dedication to Catholic education throughout the years has not gone unnoticed, and the Committee on Catholic Education will benefit tremendously from her contribution.
