Galen Gasson '73 (ELE) lives in Versailles, Ohio. He writes, “I am an official SKYWARN weather spotter for the National Weather Service in Wilmington, Ohio.”

Chris Meehan '76 (ELE) lives in Melbourne, Fla. He writes, “Pope Francis called all the deacons of the world to Rome for a Jubilee for Deacons to participate in the Year of Mercy. The event began May 25 and culminated in a papal Mass on May 29. I vested for Mass in the Pope Paul VI auditorium, where Pope Francis holds his general audiences. It was a truly joyous occasion to process into St. Peter’s Square with about 2,000 of my brother deacons to assist at Mass with our Holy Father.”

Doug Borchers '87 (ELE) lives in Russia, Ohio. He writes, “I’m president of Superior Aluminum Products. My son, Zach ʼ14, recently married Julie Rupp ʼ14, and my daughter Victoria ʼ16 took a teaching job in Covington, Ohio. My daughter Taylor is a junior at UD, and I have four more daughters at home, counting their days until they can become Flyers.” Doug also received his MBA from UD in 1996.

Bill Wertz '03 (CME) and Debbie Schroeder Wertz ʼ02 (CMT)(PSS) announce the birth of Eleanor Mae (6-27-15), who joins sister Audrey, 3, at home in Worthington, Ohio. Bill is the quality manager for the cylinders division at Worthington Industries.

Timothy Paff '04 (CPE) lives in Cincinnati. He has been hired as a senior capability associate with consulting firm 84.51°.

Ryan Kramb '05 (CME) and Tiffany Clower Kramb (ECE) live in Monroe, Ohio. Ryan is a researcher at LyondellBasell Industries. They write, “Ryan was the 2016 recipient of the LyondellBasell Rising Star award, given to an individual employed for three years or less who has shown outstanding performance in his or her position. Ryan was awarded for his contributions to the specialty polypropylene business in the area of product and application development. We have three sons.

Mike Melzak '07 (MEE) and Jenny Lowe Melzak (DEN) announce the birth of Samuel Joseph (6-20-16), who joins family dog Petey at home in Cincinnati. They write, “Samuel already is a big Flyer fan and loves Rudy. Mike is an engineer at General Electric, and Jenny is a dentist in the Clifton neighborhood.” 2011 Michael Riedl (CPE)(ELE) lives in Waltham, Mass. He writes, “I earned a master’s of science in electrical computer engineering in December 2015 and a doctorate in electrical and computer engineering in August 2015, both from The Ohio State University. I recently accepted a position with MIT Lincoln Laboratory in Lexington, Mass.”

Alyssa DePaola '14 (MEE) married Daniel Winland (MEE) Aug. 6, 2016, in Columbus, Ohio, where the couple lives. They write, “We both work for Honda in Marysville, Ohio. Eight alumni were in the wedding party, as well as current student Kristina DePaola ʼ18.”

Adam Sokol '14 (CME) married Kathryn Gardocki (EMS) July 30, 2016, at St. John’s Church in Middletown, Ohio. They write, “We’ve dated since our freshman year, and 40 alumni attended our wedding. We live in Dayton and regularly visit UD for walks around campus, as well as for basketball and football games. Kathryn is a junior high school teacher at St. John XXIII, a Catholic school in Middletown, and Adam is a process engineer in Dayton.”

Daniel Winland '14 (MEE) married Alyssa DePaola (MEE) Aug. 6, 2016, in Columbus, Ohio, where the couple lives. They write, “We both work for Honda in Marysville, Ohio. Eight alumni were in the wedding party, as well as current student Kristina DePaola 18.”
