MSA Call for Papers

By Gloria Dodd

The Mariological Society of America's Call for papers closes October 15, 2016, for its 2017 Annual Meeting on the theme of "The Blessed Virgin's Relationship to the Sacraments of Christian Initiation: Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist." Theological topics could address the Scriptural or Patristic foundations of Mary's relationship to these sacraments—her possible reception of them, and Mary's spiritual maternity through these sacraments. Suggested devotional topics could include Mary's exemplarity for our reception of these sacraments, or Marian consecration as the way to live out these sacraments. Catechetical approaches to the topic could explain where Mary belongs in sacramental preparation. For a complete list of suggested topics, please click on "Call for Papers" at the MSA website.

The 2017 meeting of the MSA will take place May 16–19 at the Schoenstatt Center Lamar in Rockport, Texas (near Corpus Christi). One does not need to belong to the society to present or to attend the meeting. Some of the faculty, staff, and students of the International Marian Research Institute attend this annual meeting each year. Find out more about the lovely water-front retreat center.
