Ten Years of Chinese Marian Resources

By Sister Celia Chua, MIC, STD, visiting professor at the International Marian Research Institute

I remember when I was invited to be a faculty member at IMRI (International Marian Research Institute) in 2008, Father Johann Roten, S.M. saw the importance of creating online resources for Chinese visitors to the Mary Page website (now known as All About Mary). Since most of the Chinese origins here and abroad are neither Christian nor Catholic, why would they be interested in our website? My experience working in Asia, particularly with the Chinese population, tells me that Mary, her maternal figure, attracts many people even if they are not Christian. Curiosity or interest?

The two editing teams composed of Chinese Catholics, one in Taiwan and another one in Ohio, assisted in finding and editing articles. The team members also helped in classifying the articles (2014) and even now in 2018 as we revive the Chinese content on our All About Mary website, they are still willing to collaborate. To their precious support and contribution, I am most grateful. Ten years of service challenges us to make Mary known, loved and served humbly and faithfully. Grateful for the past, passion for the present and hope for the future.
