Finding Peace and Love

by Michelle Perusek  UDSAP '09

I remember sitting in the Love Room our first week there, staring around at all of the quotes from different generations of UDSAPers, as BT led our group in a reflection about the culture shock we were experiencing. Little did I know then, but that culture shock would take a huge turn nine weeks later, as I returned to mainstream America.

A group of library employees took winter break as an opportunity to edit Wikipedia articles to highlight UD's special collections. Here's what we did.

Finals Week Memory

When a '06 alumna read about the University of Dayton Alumni Association’s finals week pizza drive for Roesch Library, she wrote in to share her best library memory.

Memories from 1976 and 1977

by Susan M. Mospens, PhD

Some memories from 1976 and 1977:

  • A tree trunk used to help support the ceiling in the dining room
  • Hauling water in milk jugs into the house after filling them each day in town
  • Watching a black snake eat a toad on the front lawn
  • Lowering Junior down the well on a rope to retrieve the lost buckets at the bottom of the well.

A Summer in the Mountains

by Susan Griffin Ward, Summer of 1984

A few years ago I took my son, a high school senior, to tour UD. While we were waiting in Albert Emanuel Hall, a student wearing an Appalachia Club T-shirt sat down next to us. This was some serious serendipity; he was wearing was the very same T-shirt I wore in the 1980's when I was in the Appalachia Club.

Rag Tag Group of Hippies

by Beth Wahl Kuzmick (Summer of 1971)

Let's just say we were pretty new in town back then and they really didn't know what to make of this "rag tag" group of "Hippies" from up North!!! Tom Litzkay was the president of our little club (and it was mighty little at that time!). Once I met Tom, experienced his passion and vision for helping the people of Magoffin County, I was hooked! I would have followed this man anywhere, even down a dark holler road in the mountains of Eastern Kentucky on a Friday night in October of 1970!

4 Reasons Why I Love McGinnis Center Mass

12.15.2015

| Campus and Community

In the midst of finals, exams, and a whole lot less sleep than the average person requires, it’s difficult to be where your feet are and remember how #blessed we are to attend UD.

Deadlines are stressful. Exams are stressful. That last week may feel like a final lap of a marathon that has been this semester. One thing was really brings me back to the big picture is McGinnis Mass. Located in the South Student Neighborhood, it is mass held every Sunday at 9pm in the McGinnis Center. It is by far my favorite mass the University of Dayton offers for so many reasons.
