Students: Take your education abroad!

The Education Abroad and Partnerships Office is devoted to promoting international opportunities offered through the University of Dayton (UD) for students to expand their learning community. The Education Abroad team will be hosting their largest event of the year, the Education Abroad Fair, on Wednesday, September 27 from 4pm-7pm in Kennedy Union Ballroom and Torch Lounge. Attendees will be able to visit the tables and interact with representatives to collect information about each of the international programs at the fair.

Students are encouraged to explore the many opportunities offered through UD, such as faculty led programs, semester exchanges, service opportunities, cultural immersions and other programs with non-UD providers. These programs offer students a chance to explore various regions across the globe. The Education Abroad team also understands that students may have questions beyond the details of each international program. Each year, the Financial Aid office, University of Dayton China Institute, ETHOS, Center for Social Concern, and more than a dozen other non-UD providers are invited so students can connect with those office to assist with any questions.

A hallmark of the Education Abroad Fair is the peer-to-peer advising section. Located in the Kennedy Union Torch Lounge, students will be able to meet other students who have completed a study abroad trip. This section allows students to engage with a new perspective of the study abroad experience from a fellow peer.

After the Fair, students can connect with a team member from the Education Abroad Office, located in Rike 208. “We have programs from 10 days to a year that include various financial options”, shares Heather Schieman, the university’s Study Abroad Advisor. “If you plan ahead of time, we can find a program that fits your academic and financial needs”.

The deadlines to make a final decision to find a program for this academic year are quickly approaching. Applications for spring 2017 programs are due October 1, and summer 2017 programs have a rolling admission deadline of February 1.  For more information, stop by the office in Rike 208, or chat with us online at udayton.edu/edabroad.
