“Don’t be Bashful before Our Lord and His Mother”

During Lent this year we thought we’d share a pamphlet from our Archives published at Mount St. John, here in Dayton, in 1951: A Penny for Your Thoughts: Short Lenten Meditation for the Student.

Praying is not complicated, Fr. Francis J. Friedel wanted students to know. “All you have to do is pray from the bottom of your heart. You chat with Our Lord ... Just talk to Jesus as your best Pal, to Mary as you would your mother, to the saints as to your friends.”

Rev. Friedel, S.M. (1897-1959) was at one time the spiritual director at the university and later the dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. He wrote several theological books and articles. You can see another pamphlet, also published at Mt. St. John, online: Links of Love: Meditations on the Rosary
