Reunion Weekend: Tour the Library

During Reunion Weekend, alumni and friends are invited to Roesch Library for light refreshments and to learn about the latest news in the University Libraries. The open house is noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 8. The main entrance is closed for renovation, so enter through the west or north doors and make your way to the second floor using the steps or the elevator. Note: the north entrance has stairs; the west entrance (the portico with two-story pillars) is the accessible entrance.

Second floor

Explore the floor: The newly renovated second floor is not the silent and serious space you remember; it’s a complete reimagining of library spaces and services, all designed around student and faculty needs. Highlights include huddle rooms, private study spaces, and research and writing consultation areas. You can also talk to library faculty and staff about the first-floor renovations set for completion in July.

Make a button with an image from your graduation or from the University Archives and Special Collections. It goes great with the Reunion Weekend lanyard; don’t be seen at the porch party without one! Yearbooks and other memorabilia also will be on display.

Were you a student employee at Roesch Library, the Marian Library or the archives? If so, stop by the information table on the second floor for a keepsake.

Sign up for a free borrowing card: If you are an alumnus living in Ohio, you can register for one at the services desk.

Seventh floor

Browse two exhibits in the Marian Library gallery: The Many Faces of the Madonna celebrates the 120 exhibits of the past 25 years in the Marian Library gallery and features works new and old on canvas and in bronze, wood, stone and other media. A Miniature Museum of Marian Art: The Madonna on Stamps displays postage stamps from around the world that portray Madonnas created by Renaissance masters Botticelli, Dürer, Memling and Raphael.

See a volume of the Heritage Edition of the Saint John’s Bible, a fine-art, limited-availability reproduction of the handwritten and hand-illuminated Bible commissioned by the St. John’s Abbey and University in Minnesota in 1998.

View Nativity scenes from around the world on display in the Crèche Museum.
