Learn, Leash, and Serve

4Paws for Ability is an organization from Xenia, OH, that trains and provides service dogs for individuals with disabilities. While providing service dogs for children was their founding focus and is still their main priority, 4Paws also works with veterans and has added an Alzheimer’s Assistance Dog program. The LTC’s Office of Learning Resources manages the 4Paws for Ability program on campus.

4Paws has 14 partnering schools in the University Puppy Raiser program, which offers an opportunity for college students to foster puppies and work as volunteer trainers.  Puppies enrolled in the 4Paws University Puppy Raiser program attend class, activities, meetings, events, and outings on and off campus with their student handlers. At UD, our “4Paws at UD” student organization brings together our handlers, other volunteers, and students who continue to support the 4Paws mission.

How can you help?

  • If you see one of our four-legged 4Paws puppies on campus, ask the handler about the program.
  • Ask the handler if you can get some “puppy love.”
  • Join the 4Paws at UD student organization.

Volunteer directly with 4Paws for Ability.
