Goodbye Facebook!Yesterday, I decided to do the right thing. I decided to stop using Facebook, an online social network.
I looked over the pros. I looked over the cons. I thought everything over about Facebook.
I am really tired of people requesting to be friends with me. I do not even know who they are.
Before I deactivated my Facebook account, I did a lot of things to make sure I did not leave any traces of me on the Facebook website. I had two hundred eighty something friends on Facebook. I decided to defriend all of them. I also untagged myself in my friends and families' photos. I left my own Facebook groups and deleted some which I am creator of. I deleted all of my videos and even my own photos.
I cannot use Facebook for rest of my life. What if I will decide to run for the President of the United States? Those who are against me will surely use whatever they can find online, even photos and videos of me on Facebook.
Some of you may think I am crazy to do this. To be honest, I did my homework. A lot of companies might use Facebook search and find everything they can on me. I really do not want to do that. I heard one woman went to her job interview and the interviewer started blasting her face with all the Facebook photos she had during her college years.
Seriously, that would ruin one's career.
People, be careful about Facebook. Even I cannot delete my own Facebook account due to the some policy, I only deactivated it with 0 zero friends and private settings set. So no one can search my empty profile on Facebook.
