Happy Easter #1!

This morning, I went to a morning prayer at the UD Chapel with great friends, both lay and religious people. We gathered here this morning to celebrate three young people who are getting confirmed tonight at 9 PM. I was so surprised when Father Fleming told us a story from the Bible. Here is what he said: - Again Jesus left the district of Tyre and went by way of Sidon to the Sea of Galilee, into the district of the Decapolis. And people brought to him a deaf man who had a speech impediment and begged him to lay his hand on him. He took him off by himself away from the crowd. He put his finger into the man’s ears and, spitting, touched his tongue; then he looked up to heaven and groaned, and said to him, “Ephphatha!” -. that is, “Be opened!” -- And immediately the man’s ears were opened, his speech impediment was removed, and he spoke plainly. He ordered them not to tell anyone. But the more he ordered them not to, the more they proclaimed it. They were exceedingly astonished and they said,“He has done all things well. He makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.” - When he said the story, I just wanted to laugh and cry. Why? Obviously, many people in the world know that I am a deaf man with a speech impediment! I think God is trying to tell me something. Maybe that something is that the big man upstairs have a great twisted sense of humor. I couldn't be proud of Amanda, who happens to be one of three people getting confirmed tonight! I happen to be her confirmation sponsor! So I will be confirming her into the Church tonight! So excited! I couldn't believe I almost laughed and cried because the story literally made my day! I always believe that God is good and Jesus is good as well. Good may be understatement, but how about "beyond good!" Happy Easter Y'all!
