Triatholon Training BeginsSo last week I decided I was going to do a triatholon with my brother and my moms boyfriend. I have not done one in a few years and I thought, why not? It will be fun. Considering it is on the 27th of June, it gives me little time to train for it, therefore I have obviously started training. On Sunday, my family and some of my moms friends went up to Lake Lanier so we could do some open water swimming and bike some afterwards. I had swam some laps in the pool earlier last week, which by the way, I didnt do so well. I was a little nervous doing the open water swimming. When I did my first triatholon, I had a bad experience when another competitor grabbed my legs, pulled me back, swam over me, and then kicked me in the face, causing my breathing to get messed up. Needless to say, it was not a good first experience. So finally getting back into the water was different, but I got acquainted very fast. I ended up swimming 6/10 of a mile so I was pretty excited about that. That was the farthest I have ever swim at one time, so I was pretty proud of myself. After swimming, I took a short break, then proceeded to go ride on my new road bike that I had gotten for my birthday present. Let me just say, its a pretty sweet ride. I wont go into all of the details and features because many of you readers would probably get lost anyway, and well get bored with it. Ultimately, we ended up riding 20 miles which was not too bad.
I plan on riding a lot more over the summer. My personal goal is to ride the whole Silver Comet Trail. This trail used to be an old railroad but now is paved over, so people biking, running, rollerblading, etc, can enjoy it. Its total length is close to 100 miles and goes into Alabama. So my personal goal is to ride to Alabama one way which is the 100 miles, stay the night, then the next day, wake up and ride the 100 miles back. It would be an amazing accomplishment for me. I have already rode 100 miles in a day before when I was sixteen. These rides are called century rides, since well there is about a 100 miles of riding required of you.
Anyways, thats what I have been up to the past week, just trying to get ready for the triatholon. I hope everybodies summer is going great. Ill keep you guys updated on the training and anything else exciting/boring going on in my life. As always be safe and make good choices!
