2-Factor Authentication – Enroll by November 1st

There are cybercriminals all over the world trying to gain as much information from internet users as possible.  Cybercriminals are getting smarter every day and, believe it or not, you are a potential target. These hackers want to profit from the exploitation of the private information belonging to individuals as well as entire institutions. Today, a simple password is not enough to protect your confidential information.  This is the reason the University of Dayton is taking steps to improve the security of its data.

Two-factor authentication (2FA) is one of the best ways to protect your accounts here at UD.  It verifies your identity by requiring something you know (your UD username and password) as well as something you have (like a cell phone or hardware token).  This protects you and your data if any other person gets ahold of your login credentials. 

2FA enrollment is now open! We are introducing this new login system throughout the months of September and October, so you can learn about 2FA and enroll when you are ready.  On November 1, 2016, all UD faculty and staff (including contractors) will need a “second factor” enrolled in 2FA to access protected UD systems (including UD Gmail, Banner, Isidore, Runway and HR Benefit Focus).
