Dayton Life: Memorial Day Events

Memorial DayThere's plenty to do this weekend in Dayton to celebrate Memorial Day. Learn about Dayton's history and enjoy a picnic at the Dayton Heritage Festival at the Carillon Historical Park on Sunday. The exhibit buildings will be decked in patriotic decorations, and historical activities and demonstrations will take place throughout the day. Dayton's 1860s baseball team, The Clodbusters, will play a round to show how this American past time used to be played. The Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra will play a concert beginning at 7:00 pm, and the Grand Skydiving Finale will cap off this patriotic day. Find out more about the Heritage Festival here

Pay tribute to our veterans by attending the Memorial Service at the National Musuem of the U.S. Air Force. At 9:00 a.m. on May 22, there will be a roll call for all local Miami Valley region U.S. service members who died while serving in the U.S. Armed Services in conflicts from World War II to present day. Col. Todd Venema will provide opening remarks, and Air Force Lt. Gen. Jack Hudson will be the guest speaker. Find out more about this event here
