Dayton Life: Savory Steak

Dayton will become a little more famous in July when The Pine Club, a steakhouse near the UD campus, will be featured on The Food Network's show as one of the top 5 steakhouse restaurants in the country.  A Dayton icon since 1947, David Hulme purchased the restaurant in 1979 and has striven to maintain the standards and ambiance established when it first opened.  Of the restaurant's upcoming appearance on The Food Network, Hulme says, "It's an honor and a thrill to be included.  Food Network recognition is a big deal, and this is a testament to our customers and to the culture and the tradition that have developed over nearly 70 years."  This is not the first time The Pine Club has been recognized, however - The New York Times Style Magazine has listed it as one of the "World's 10 Greatest Old Dining Institutions" and USA Today rated it "One of the USA's best Steakhouses."

The episode of Top 5 Restaurants featuring The Pine Club will air at 10:30 pm on July 6th.
