Mac Monday: Encrypt iTunes Backups

BackupWhen backing up your Apple device to your computer, the default setting does not back up some of the most sensitive information, including saved passwords, Wi-Fi settings, and browsing history. However, you can enable iTunes to save information like this in your backup if you encrypt it. The steps in this article only apply to backing up devices to computers, not to those using iCloud. iCloud backups are automatically encrypted for you.

Before following the steps, though, remember that there is no way to recover your encryption password if you forget it and there is no way to turn off the encryption. Make sure the password you choose is one you can remember!
