UD: Did you know? - Computer Science Grant

The University of Dayton has wonComputer Science Grant a $300,000 grant from the Association of American Colleges and Universities’ TIDES initiative – Teaching to Increase Diversity and Equity in STEM. This money will be used to redesign aspects of the computer science program to attract and retain women and other under-represented students in this highly competitive field. Mehdi Zargham, the chair of the computer science department, said a new introductory course will “focus on graphical language and real-life projects. Students will learn the basics of programming, but we will also involve them in picking projects they enjoy, with our goal being that they will continue in the program.”
