About the Department

We’ve created an academic environment where students can live out the University’s ideal — to learn, lead and serve. It’s a commitment that resonates throughout our department.

All three of our majors embrace a theory-to-practice orientation that includes hands-on, required capstone courses involving projects with real organizations. Our department offers majors and minors in entrepreneurship, leadership, and marketing. Majors in marketing can also earn an emphasis in sales management — a highly sought skill as almost two of every three marketing majors land their first jobs in a sales-related field.

We don’t stop there. Our department sponsors three real-world competitions for students, who earn invaluable experience and prize money in the process. The P&G Marketing Challenge is offered every semester and is open to marketing majors. The Everest Real Estate Challenge is an annual competition open to entrepreneurship majors. And all UD students can compete in the annual UD Business Plan Competition (www.udbpc.com) which is organized by our entrepreneurship program and offers over $20,000 in prize money. 

And what we do is getting attention. Our entrepreneurship program for undergraduates is one of the very best in the nation — rated 5th in the country in 2006 by Princeton Review and Entrepreneur Magazine. In 2007, our sales management program was recognized by Selling Power Magazine as a top university training program for developing sales professionals.
