About the Department

Our students are consistently in demand — known for their comprehensive understanding and experience. Our faculty is well known for research, commitment to teaching and active service to the University, professional organizations and the community.

We support the School of Business Administration's MBA program, including concentrations and post-master's certificates in MIS, operations management, business intelligence and technology-enhanced business.

Our innovative MIS undergraduate program features a capstone, two-semester analysis and design project with a Dayton area firm. You may also select from two MIS emphases: business intelligence and business systems development. This hands-on approach prepares you for immediate contribution in the professional world — a skill highly sought by employers.

The operations and supply management (OPS) program is comprised of six required courses and two electives. The program's hallmark is its senior capstone consulting project with a regional firm (which often leads to a permanent job offer). You grapple with real operations and supply problems of real firms. This cutting edge program benefits from extensive interaction and guidance from area business executives.

Students may minor in decision sciences. You study analysis, quantitative methodologies and their application to the functional and behavioral problems of any organization. The curriculum includes applied statistics, operations research, simulation, and production and operations decision support systems.

Our e-business minor prepares you for the impact of the internet and related technologies on business. It's open to all students to learn about the focal technologies, including basic concepts and application development skills, and the business processes they enable.

Our success in each area is tied to our close partnerships and exchanges with Dayton-area business and government. You'll have the opportunity to conduct projects with firms in the area as a part of your coursework, interact with our executives-in-residence and advisory boards that include business leaders from across the country who can open doors and provide opportunities for you. We’re also a member of the Greater Dayton IT Alliance, participating as an economic development and networking partner.

These partnerships are indicative of our department. We all work together to create an integrated community of learning. Our department was designed to enhance your experience, your education — your success.
