Admission Requirements

The School of Business Administration offers a program leading to a Master of Business Administration degree. Concentrations are available in the areas of cyber-security, finance, and marketing.

Application Deadline

The MBA Program accepts applications on a rolling basis.  We recommend applying at least 4-6 weeks in advance of the term in which you would like to begin.  If you are an international student looking to apply to the MBA Program, use the International Applicant's Deadline Link to learn more.

GMAT/GRE

GMAT/GRE scores are not required to apply.  However, they may be requested in some circumstances for a final admission decision.

Resume

A current, professional resume with detailed work experience is required.

Essay

The admission essay will be used to evaluate your written communication abilities (assessing grammar, organization, clarity, and the ability to follow instructions), provide insight as to the type of student you will be in the program, and assess the value you will bring to the MBA classroom.

Please read the essay prompts carefully and provide a well-written response that addresses each question.  Your essay should be 500 - 750 words only and double-spaced.  Please include your name and date of birth on each page.

Essay Prompt:

  • Please discuss the key values and skills you have gained from your academic, personal, and professional journeys. How will these qualities ensure your success in the University of Dayton MBA Program, particularly in light of the University's Marianist values?
Personal Statement

A personal statement is optional.  Please use the optional statement to address areas of your academic and/or professional histories that may benefit from further clarification.  For example, the optional statement could include details on gaps in work experience, circumstances surrounding poor academic performance/disciplinary actions, or explanations concerning legal disciplinary action.  As with the admission essay, this statement should also be well-written and reflect your writing abilities.  The optional statement should be no more than one page, double-spaced.  Please include your name and date of birth.

Letters of Recommendation (Online MBA Only)

The Online MBA program requires two professional letters of recommendation, one of which must be from a current or former supervisor who is familiar with your competencies, abilities, and qualifications. Personal and peer references will not be accepted and should not be submitted. Up to two additional letters of recommendation will be accepted, but are not required.

Transcripts

All applicants must submit official transcripts of previously attended higher educational institutions to the Office of Graduate Admission Processing.  A GPA of 3.0 is preferred.

International Student

All international students without a U.S. degree are required to submit English proficiency scores meeting specific requirements. Use the link below to learn more about the English Proficiency Options. Scores should be sent directly to the University of Dayton from the testing center using code 1834.
