Student Success Stories

PAIGE FLANNELLY

What is your major(s)?

I’ll graduate in May 2017 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English.

What is your success story?

This past summer, I had an auditing internship with Moss Adams in Seattle, WA and will be returning full-time next fall. Being in the Accounting and English programs is so versatile and afforded me the opportunity to be marketable all the way to the west coast. I will sit for the CPA exam this summer before I begin work because I was able to reach 150 credit hours in my four undergraduate years at UD.

What are your best SBA experiences so far?

Having a leadership role in Beta Alpha Psi, a professional accounting organization, greatly enhanced my positive experiences in the business school. Being able to attend conferences and interact with other accounting students from all over the region showed me that accounting really is a universal language. Planning events for the organization and working closely with the accounting faculty have also enriched my time at UD.

How do you expect to carry these experiences over into your future plans?

I eventually want to go into teaching at the university level, and attending graduate school abroad is also a goal of mine. All of my SBA experiences, whether in or outside of the classroom, have prepared me to be a leader and excel in whatever path I choose. My relationships with my professors and my understanding of the value of work experience drive me to achieve the goals I’ve set for myself.

Why do you love UD?

The people. I couldn't have asked for better friends, professors, or classmates. Everyone is so willing to support you and wants to see you succeed. I have learned so much these past four years and I'm very thankful to the UD community for helping to make me a better person.
