Interned with Acme United (Asia Pacific) Limited, Hong Kong

What is your major(s)?

Business Economics major and Finance minor.

How/why did you come to be working with (your firm)?

Hong Kong is one of the largest financial centers in the world, and I was fortunate to have an opportunity to work here.

Can you mention the specific unit you work in and the people you work under?

My job is supervised by the financial controller in the Accounting and Finance department.

What exactly are you doing in your role?

My current project involves analyses of opportunities, risks and costs associated with various online sales service providers. I use what I learn to create simulations and make assumptions to help select the best online sales provider for Acme Limited.

What is the most significant aspect of your work with them?

My supervisor and our team share real-world knowledge about processes like internal audits, cost forecasts and competitive products analysis. I connect what I observe on the job to what I learn in the classroom in ways that are very meaningful.

What is the most challenging aspect of your work?

Hong Kong has a unique culture and the languages spoken here are very different from what I’m used to.

How you expect to carry this experience over into your future plans?

My internship has helped me understand what to expect in the real business world. I can see clearly that this kind of work is what I want to do after I graduate from UD.

What is your best UD-SBA experience so far?

This internship is the best thing so far.

Why do you love UD?

The UD community creates a great atmosphere for students to learn, lead and serve. And I love Dayton basketball – GO FLYERS!
