In this master class, The Art of Chamber Music, the internationally renowned American Horn Quartet (AHQ) will discuss various aspects of chamber music playing, including the importance of good intonation, matching articulation, choosing appropriate repertoire, developing a group sound, etiquette with colleagues, taking (calculated) musical risks and more. Excerpts from the AHQ repertoire punctuate each point. This part of the class lasts approximately 45 minutes and is followed by a Q&A session and a short break. The second hour is spent coaching ensembles. The scope of this class goes well beyond horn playing and addresses chamber music in general, so it is valuable for other brass students and, in fact, for students of any instrument. Event is located in the College Park Center, Room 153.
