Myths and Misperceptions in Chinese History

Thursday, April 16

Time: 4 p.m. — 5 p.m.

Location: Kennedy Union RM 331

How does our view of the past shape the way we see China today? As China becomes an increasingly important part of and presence in our contemporary world, it is more important than ever that we become more familiar with its past. This talk will discuss the history of myths and misperceptions of the Chinese past that continue to influence the way we view the China of today: from the Great Wall to Kungfu Panda, from Mao's revolution to Starbucks, this talk aims to create a more fruitful (and historical) dialogue about our shared past.
