UD Rescue Squad's Leslie Smith Memorial 5K

Saturday, April 11

Time: 10 a.m. — 2 p.m.

Location: RecPlex and University 5K Route

Lesley Smith was a devoted member of the University of Dayton Rescue Squad for 3 years.  She graduated from UD in May 2007 with dual degrees in Psychology and Spanish.  Lesley served as the Personnel Officer for a year, and graciously stepped up to the plate her last semester when the current Personnel Officer resigned.  She also worked hard through the promotion process to become a Crew Chief.  Lesley was a great leader and gave countless hours of her time to the Rescue Squad.  In addition to her selfless acts, Lesley was a great mentor for fellow squad members.  She was a very passionate, and charismatic person who always had a smile on her face. Lesley passed away on January 30, 2008 due to complications from epilepsy.  She was pursuing a graduate degree at the University of Cincinnati.  Donations from each annual race are given to The Epilepsy Foundation, which is dedicated to the welfare of the almost 3 million people with epilepsy in the U.S. The eighth annual Lesley E. Smith Memorial 5K will be held on April 11th 2015 with registration starting in the morning. The race will begin and end at the UD RecPlex on the corner of Kiefaber Street and Evanston Avenue.
