Latino/a Student Experience: Reflection and Writing Group

Thursday, October 1

Time: 6 p.m. — 8 p.m.

Location: Alumni Hall, Room 016

This reflection and writing group will provide Latino/a students and others who are interested with opportunities to reflect on the experiences of being a Latino/a college student. The students will assist in identifying the focus of monthly sessions and will receive guidance from Latino/a staff and faculty. Discussion topics may include some or all of the following: navigating multiple worlds as college students, members of their family and multiple communities; being the first to attend college; the diversity of Latinos/as; and the strengths associated with Latinos/as and the Latino/a community. Students will have an opportunity to document their reflections.  The stories can be submitted for publication via the University’s online digital repository, eCommons, or may be shared via other forums.  This will be a fun and supportive community.  Refreshments provided.  This event has been made possible through support from a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the American Library Association.--
