Our goal during this event is not only to spread the word about our organization around campus, but also to educate other students about mental health and to empower them to speak openly about mental health to encourage help-seeking. During the event, anyone is welcome to buy a plate, have the option to decorate it, and then keep it or smash the plate on ArtStreet to release tension, anger, or stress. This is a healthy way of relieving stress that might be normally relieved in self-harm or drug/alcohol abuse. We have noted the safety precautions and to prevent any injuries that may occur, there will only be 2-3 students smashing plates at one time, and the area in which the smashing will occur will be closed off with tape and tarps. Safety goggles and gloves will be worn at all times by anyone in taped off area. While other students wait to smash their plates, they will be given the option to decorate their plate and can help themselves to some refreshments provided by ActiveMinds. We want this to be a fun and safe event that students will remember. By literally smashing out the stigma against mental health, we hope that our mission is spread throughout campus so that people speak up and encourage one another to seek the help they need.   ArtStreet Amphitheater Center for Student Involvementstudentorgs@udayton.eduNo10/15/2015
