Teach-In: Latina/o Experiences and Literature

Three presenters will lead an interactive discussion after brief presentations. In her talk, "Latina Lives in Milwaukee," based on her recent research and forthcoming book, Theresa Delgadillo (Coordinator of the Latina/o Studies Program at The Ohio State University) will discuss the multiple Latinidades that characterize Latina/o life in the Midwest, key experiences of Latinas in Milwaukee throughout the 20th century, and the significance of interdisciplinary research. Sr. Maria Stacy, director of Hispanic Catholic Ministry, North, will discuss her work with Latina/os in the local Dayton community. In her talk, "Latina Literary Activism," Tereza Szeghi (Department of English) will discuss some of the ways Latina writers are using literature as a means of advocating for Latina/o human rights.
