Convent music? Yes, it was a real draw a few hundred years ago — and it’s on the rise again, thanks to early music ensembles like the Cincinnati-based Catacoustic Consort, directed by Annalisa Pappano. In early 17th century Italy, up to 15 percent of the female population lived in convents. Women sang, played various instruments and in some cases composed original sacred works — some of which will be presented in this concert. Also on the program will be a selection of secular music from the period, featuring female vocalists accompanied by the Baroque harp, theorbo and lirone. For tickets, call the Kennedy Union Box Office at 229-2545 or visit go.udayton.edu/artslive
