Please join us to explore research opportunities and hear Matt Maroon ’06 present about the NGO Determined to Develop that works to empower the citizens of Malawi to create sustainable, community-driven solutions to issues facing their communities.

Matt is a 2006 graduate of UD who undertook a year of service with the Marianist brothers. One year turned into many.

Following work on his master’s degree, Matt founded Determined to Develop, a nonprofit nongovernmental organization that works to empower the citizens of Malawi to create sustainable, community-driven solutions to issues facing their communities. Matt also established a lodge called Maji Zuwa, a community hub where visitors and local people can come together to work on development projects.

In recognition of his work and collaborative spirit, Matt received the UD 2016 Joe Belle Young Alumni Award for volunteer service and early career achievement for his work in Malawi.
