Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Prayer Breakfast are now open at http://tickets.udayton.edu. This year's breakfast is on Tuesday, January 17, 2017, 8:00 am - 9:00 am. Dr. Lawrence A. Q. Burnley, University of Dayton's inaugural vice president for diversity and inclusion, will serve as the keynote speaker. Remarks will also be given by our president, Dr. Eric Spina. From 2005 to 2009, Dr. Burnley served as the associate dean for multicultural programs and special assistant to the provost for diversity affairs at Messiah College in Grantham, Pennsylvania. At both Whitworth and Messiah, Dr. Burnley was the inaugural chief diversity officer. In addition to a doctorate in education from the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Burnley has a master’s of divinity degree from the Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis. He specializes in drawing intellectual and theological perspectives together to enhance diversity, both on and off the college campus. A Cleveland native, Burnley earned his bachelor’s degree in African-American Studies with a concentration in history from the University of Cincinnati. His research specialties include multicultural issues in education; African and African-American church history, church administration and pastoral care; and the history of American education, with a focus on African-American education dur ing the antebellum, reconstruction and progressive eras. In order to better accommodate seating, full tables will be sold (8 seats per table). Tables are $64 each.
