The department of English hosts LitFest 2017 — a creative festival of literary arts that brings the University and Dayton-area communities together in a celebration of diverse and accessible poetry.

Saturday March 11 Events:

FREE REGISTRATION

10-11 a.m.: Doughnuts, pastries and fruit

WORKSHOPS I

11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.:

  • Martín Espada: Poetry workshop
  • Lily Hoang: Creative nonfiction workshop
LUNCH BREAK

12:30-1 p.m.: Sandwiches and soft drinks

WORKSHOPS II

1-2:30 p.m.: Workshop with Martín Espada and Lily Hoang

WORKSHOPS III

2:45-4:45 p.m.: Workshop with University faculty, P.J. Carlisle, Lincoln Schreiber and Jerome Stueart: “Flashtastics, OpenMic Charmers"

EVENING EVENTS

5-6 p.m.: LitFest participants dinner with writers and University English faculty

6-7 p.m.: Readings, conversation and question-and-answer session with Espada and Hoang

7-7:45 p.m.: Book signing

8-10 p.m.: OpenMic/Slam Contest, with prizes.
