Title: A Nonlinear Analysis of an Oscillator Equation with Damping and External Forcing Using a Perturbation Method

Abstract: We obtain a relation between the stability of steady states and the slope of a bifurcation curve for an oscillator equation . We show the frequency response curve is an S-shaped curve. We consider the eigenvalues of the corresponding system of the first order differential equation with constant coefficients. If the real parts of the eigenvalues are all negative, then the steady state solution is stable.
