The University of Dayton is committed to providing excellent, cost-efficient education abroad opportunities to students. That's why you can spend your summer exploring two of the world's most incredible cultures: China and Rome, Italy. You'll gain a global perspective while you build your résumé, enrich your future career and immerse yourself in the rich histories and culture of China and Rome.

Program Dates

The China + Rome Summer 2016 Program will take place from May 12 to August 8, 2016, with the first six weeks taking place in China and the next five weeks in Rome.

You will depart from the U.S. to Shanghai, China on May 12 and arrive the next day due to the time change. Then, students will depart from Beijing, China to Rome, Italy. On August 8, students will depart Rome for the U.S.

Program Cost

The China Institute is committed to making education abroad opportunities more accessible and affordable. We want to help you gain a global experience - and an edge in the workplace. That's why we're providing a $3,000 scholarship to help cover your international airfare, visa costs (if applicable), housing and associated program tours and excursions.

  • Total Program Cost: $24,000 (includes 15-17 credit hours, all airfare and program transportation, visa costs (if applicable), housing and associated tours and excursions)
  • Scholarship: $3,000
  • Net Price after Scholarship: $21,000*

Course Listing

Students take 15-17 credit hours towards their UD degree. In China, students will take three courses (four, if taking both EGR 203 and EGR 203L/ECE 201L) from the 12 courses offered across the College of Arts and Sciences, School of Business Administration and School of Engineering.   • Human Sexuality
  • Rome: Modern City

To apply for the China + Rome Summer 2016 program, you will use the China Institute's application portal - there is no application fee. When applying, please make sure to select "China + Rome" and "2016" on the application form.
