    Welcome to the China Institute!

    The China Institute, located in Suzhou, Jiangsu, is a state-of-the-art facility that is owned and operated by the University of Dayton. At the China Institute, students participating in the China Institute Transfer Program have a unique opportunity to spend one academic year experiencing the American classroom before transferring to a University in the United States, including Northeastern University. The China Institute is remarkable in that it has developed a transfer pipeline program for Chinese students to begin their university academic career before studying in the United States. The China Institute Transfer Program also gives students the chance to take classes in English with American students.

    Students referred to the China Institute by Northeastern University may feel confident that all courses needed to fulfill Northeastern requirements are available at the China Institute. We encourage you to bring your offer letter from Northeastern when you meet with the academic advisers at the China Institute to select your coursework.

    Program Cost

    The China Institute Transfer Program is an all-inclusive program. The total year-long cost includes tuition, housing, meals, program transportation and associated tours and excursions.

    • Tuition: $20,470 per semester
    • Housing: $3,800 per semester
    • Meal Plan: $2,540 per semester
    • Total Year-long Cost: $53,620*

    Housing, Meals and More

    Students participating in the China Institute Transfer Program stay at the Wencui International Student Apartments, located within close proximity to the China Institute. The apartments are four bedroom, suite-style apartments, featuring a common room and a small kitchenette. Each student has their own bedroom, bathroom and enclosed balcony space. Additionally, the student apartments feature numerous amenities, including:

    • 24-hour hot water service
    • Central heating and air conditioning
    • High-speed internet access
    • Shops and restaurants located just outside the apartments

    The meal plan for the China Institute Transfer Program is unlike any other. Students are given a debit card with renminbi (RMB) so they may eat where they like, including local restaurants, food carts and more.

    At the China Institute, students can also participate in experiential learning opportunities, conducting hands-on projects and networking with industry professionals from our partner companies and institutions.
