Jared is a Student Leader for the Sustainability Reps Program, which seeks to engage and educate fellow students, faculty and staff on sustainability and sustainable practices on campus. He lead the compost pilot pilot program last year in Marycrest residence hall. Jared engaged a team of fellow students who worked on the project to ensure more of the waste from participating floors is diverted from the landfill and is composted and reused for other purposes. He is currently the resident assistant for the Sustainability, Energy, and Environment Living Learning Community in Stuart residence hall. Jared continues to work on composting and other initiatives on campus.

“Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less.” - Marie Curie I think this is a powerful quote because it is important to really understand why we do what we do. A person must ask themselves why should I live more sustainable? The answer must come from within, and believe me, there are plenty of good reasons to live more sustainable if one just takes the time to look. Now is not the time to make excuses.
