MSG Travis Quade was born in Waverly, Iowa and enlisted in the Iowa Army National Guard in July 1989 and went the following summer to Bravo Company 1st of 50th to attend Basic Training at Fort Benning, Georgia. In November 1994, after five years in the National Guard he enlisted in the Army.

From November 1994 to January 1998 he went to Fort Campbell, Kentucky and was assigned to 1st BN, 187th Infantry and served as a Machine Gunner, Scout and RTO.

From January 1998 to January 2002 he was stationed in Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, and was assigned to Bull Company, 2-35 Infantry as a Team Leader and Squad Leader. He participated in many training events including a rotation to Japan, Australia, and two rotations to JRTC.

From January 2002 to August 2008 he was stationed at Fort Drum, New York and served in 1-87th Infantry as a Squad Leader and Platoon Sergeant in Operation Enduring Freedom, and as a Platoon Sergeant in A Troop 1-71 Cavalry during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He also served as an OC-T and Team NCOIC of B Team 1-314th Infantry (TS) and trained and certified thousands of Soldiers prior to their deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan.

From August 2008 to August 2011 he was assigned to 3rd Army (US Army Central) at Fort McPherson, Georgia and served as an Operations Sergeant both in Atlanta and in Kuwait. While assigned to 3rd Army, he went on many training missions to include Bright Star in Egypt, Operation Friendship 1 in Saudi Arabia, and many other TDY locations throughout the Middle East and Africa.

Master Sergeant Quade was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 2nd Cavalry Regiment, Vilseck, Germany from August 2011 and served as the Hammer Troop and Iron Troop First Sergeant for four years. He completed a vast array of training exercises to include a DATE exercise, an MRE, Troop Live Fire, Squadron Live Fire, Operation Atlantic Resolve in Estonia and Operation Dragoon Ride from Estonia to Germany. He also deployed to Afghanistan for OEF 13-14 and his Troop occupied the last Company sized COP in RC-S.

His list of schools and awards are as follows: WLC, ALC, SLC, First Sergeant’s Course, Air Assault, EIB, CIB, three Bronze Star Medals, one Purple Heart, three Meritorious Service Medals, two Army Commendation Medals, four Army Achievement Awards, Good Conduct medal (seventh Award), an Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Star, Iraq Campaign Medal with two Stars, GWOT Expeditionary Medal, GWOT Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 3), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (Numeral 3), a Non-Article 5 NATO Medal, and three Meritorious Unit Citations.

MSG Quade has been married to his wife Joy Quade for 19 years and has three children Ariana Quade, Sean Pavlus, and Angel Pavlus.
