Katherine Cleaver currently serves as the Assistant Vice President for Compliance, Environmental Health & Safety and has been with the University for over 20 years. She received her Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Environmental Hazardous Materials Management with an emphasis in Industrial Hygiene from the University of Findlay in 1999. She also received a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from the University of Dayton in 2020.

Katherine leads a team of four amazing and talented EHS professionals to ensure protection of human health and the environment for the University of Dayton and surrounding communities. The EHS programs support the University’s core mission by safeguarding the safety of, and reducing the risk to, the University community. The EHS team actively implements preventative education, responds to ongoing needs, and thoroughly monitors conditions that might interfere with the health and well-being of the campus community. We emphasize that health and safety, loss prevention and environmental protection must be foremost on the minds of all those who call on or serve the University.

Katherine also leads the compliance department to oversee and ensure adherence to a variety of compliance requirements and serve as a resource across the University. The University operates in an increasingly complex regulatory environment, which requires us to sharpen our focus on accountability and adherence with our legal and ethical responsibilities. The Compliance department works with leaders throughout the university to identify and fulfill legal and policy responsibilities.
