Katherine Cleaver joined the University in 2001.  She has been with the University for almost 17 years and currently serves as the Executive Director for the Environmental Health & Safety Department.  She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Hazardous Materials Management with an emphasis in Industrial Hygiene from the University of Findlay 1999.  She worked with a private consulting firm in Dayton, Ohio where she performed environmental assessments, industrial hygiene sampling and evaluations and worked on many fascinating projects in southwest Ohio.

Katherine leads a team of four amazing and talented professionals to ensure protection of human health and the environment for the University of Dayton and surrounding communities.  Our programs support the University’s core mission by safeguarding the safety of, and reducing the risk to, the University community.  We actively implement preventative education, respond to ongoing needs, and thoroughly monitor conditions that might interfere with the health and well-being of the campus community. We emphasize that health and safety, loss prevention and environmental protection must be foremost on the minds of all those who call on or serve the University.

Katherine enjoys being active with her family, hiking and has a personal passion for nutrition and wellness.  She is a certified personal trainer in her spare time through American Fitness Professionals and Associates, and hopes to obtain a certification in holistic nutrition in the future.
