Profile

Brett Bissonnette is licensed as both an attorney and Certified Public Accountant in the states of Ohio and Michigan, and assists clients with tax collection issues and examination issues with the Internal Revenue Service, as well as state and local tax departments. He also advises clients on tax compliance issues, and provides tax planning advice. Brett has experience with individuals, limited liability companies, partnerships, corporations, trusts, decedent’s estates, and bankruptcy estates, and his expertise includes income tax, sales tax, property tax, estate and gift tax, and employment taxes. Brett represents clients before the Internal Revenue Service at the local level, as well as before the Appeals Office, and also practices before the United States Tax Court.

As an attorney, Brett has tried nearly 20 cases to jury verdict, and represented clients before the Ohio Court of Appeals and the Ohio Supreme Court in nearly 40 cases. Brett has also negotiated the settlement of hundreds of claims on behalf of clients, entitling those clients to compensation of over $10 million. Additionally, Brett served as counsel in a significant qui tam case brought on behalf of the Federal Government.

As a transactional attorney, Brett has drafted organizational documents, including articles of incorporation and articles of organization, limited liability company operating agreements, residential and commercial leases, wills, trusts, and various commercial contracts.
