Profile & Areas of Primary Responsibility

Candise joined UD in 2013 as a Licensing Associate in the Technology Partnerships Office within the Office for Research, with portion of her time devoted to matters for the Office of Legal Affairs. She also served as the Research Ethics Coordinator and the Chair of the Institutional Review Board for the Office for Research prior to moving full time to the Office of Legal Affairs in early 2020.  Prior to joining UD, Candise practiced with a small litigation firm in Cincinnati, Ohio. She also worked in research & development for The Procter & Gamble Company prior to attending law school.

As Associate General Counsel for the Office of Legal Affairs, Candise’s primary role is to represent the University on a wide range of projects and matters including intellectual property (particularly copyright and trademark matters), emergent issues in civils rights law, litigation matters, privacy, and other general compliance matters. Candise is the legal point person for the Office for Research and the Research Institute, University Advancement, University Libraries, School of Law, School of Engineering, and the College of Arts & Sciences.

Candise also serves on the University Policy Coordinating Committee (as co-chair), the Institutional Bias Response Advisory Committee, the Data Governance Council, and the Insider Threat Program Working Group.
