Hi friends! My name is Lauren Farrell and I am thrilled to be working as the Graduate Assistant in the Center for Social Concern. I graduated from UD in 2006 as a Sociology and International Studies/Human Rights Major. Much of what I learned during my years as an undergrad came from my enthusiastic participation in many different aspects of Campus Ministry, including the More to Life Retreat, Women’s Wilderness Retreat, Appalachia Club, UDSAP and multiple Breakout Immersion/Service trips. After graduation, I carried the Marianist principles of community and service with me as I worked in the Twin Towers neighborhood on the East Side of Dayton as the Assistant Director of the Youth Center, and then as I embarked on a three year long term of service- first in Belfast, Northern Ireland, working with marginalized women and children from West Belfast and then on to San Pedro Sula, Honduras where I spent two years living and working at an orphanage.
I am very grateful to be back at UD where I am working towards a Masters in Pastoral Ministry. I am also excited to be able to work with an amazing team of Campus Ministers and to have the opportunity to help UD students grow in their faith by learning about social justice and engaging in service to others. If you are looking for a way to get involved in CSC or just want to chat about peace, faith, gardening, cooking, music, books or just life in general, please feel free to contact me anytime! May your year be blessed with much love, peace and growth!
