Chair's welcome

Thank you for your interest in the University of Dayton Doctor of Physical Therapy program. Physical therapy is an exciting and rewarding profession and we are committed to offering a high-quality educational experience that prepares you for the real world.

The character of our program is reflected in the tenants of the University’s mission — “Learn, Lead, Serve” — which is embedded in our program.

Learn

  • 78% of our core faculty holds a Ph.D. or equivalent (national average for PT programs is 49%)
  • 67% of our program faculty are Board Certified Clinical Specialists (national average is 35.1%).

Our accomplished and experienced faculty delivers an innovative, hybrid curriculum that blends didactic and problem-based learning with experiential and clinical education. Lead

At the University of Dayton, faculty and students model leadership in the areas of scholarship, professional advocacy, teaching and learning. Publications in peer-reviewed journals have included studies related to motion analysis and knee OA, balance training and MS, kickboxing, women’s health, yoga & pediatrics, whole body vibration & geriatrics, the overhead athlete, and diagnostic ultrasound.

Faculty and students remain highly involved with professional organizations at the national, state, and district levels. Likewise, the University of Dayton DPT program is known for being service-oriented.

Serve

The University of Dayton Department of Physical Therapy contributes to service professionally, locally and internationally. Students and faculty volunteer regularly for events and fundraisers sponsored by the MS Society, Habitat for Humanity, Rebuilding Together, Distance 4 Dreams, the Muscular Dystrophy Association and more. International service trips to Guyana and China are also part of the learning experience for our students.
