UD DPT participates in "Go Baby Go"

UD DPT faculty, students, and alumni participated in the "Go Baby Go" event held June 24, 2017, at Dayton Children's South Campus. 

The event was sponsored and supported by a collaboration between Dayton Children's Hospital, The Miami Valley Spina Bifada Association, University of Dayton, and the Corvette Troy Club. Drs. Tim and Megan Reissman from the UD Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering spearheaded the effort, bringing together the community collaborators.

"Go Baby Go" was originally started by a professor at the University of Delware and has spread throughout the world. The goal of the program is to adapt simple and affordable toy electric cars to proved a fun and therapeutic form of mobility to children with various movement disorders.

Philip Anloague

Dr. Anloague speaks at NBA Combine

DPT Chair Dr. Philip Anloague spoke at the 2017 NBA Combine, an annual event that showcases the top collegiate and amateur players in preparation for the NBA Draft.

His presentation "An Evidence Based Approach to the Evaluation and Treatment of Adverse Neural Tension in Elite Athletes" was part of a professional educational symposium held by the NBA Trainers Association. During his talk, Dr. Anloague focused on the relationship between nerve tension and muscular injuries in the NBA.

State Rep. visits UD DPT

Fred Strahorn, State Representative for the 39th district and House Minority Leader, visited the University of Dayton’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program May 26, 2017.

During his visit, Rep. Strahorn spoke with students, faculty and local clinicians about the importance of physical therapy to the health and wellness of Ohio citizens. Topics of discussion included the role physical therapists play in managing pain and improving function, the type and scope of education that physical therapy students receive, and current legislation affecting physical therapist practice.

Dr. Jackson quoted in TIME article

Dr. Kurt Jackson was quoted in the TIME article "How Kickboxing Can Change Your Body and Your Life" (March 2017):

UD named OPTA's School of the Month

Each month, the Ohio Physical Therapy Association (OPTA) features an an Ohio PT or PTA program, giving insight into their learning, research, professional development, social networking and fun.

University of Dayton was named OPTA's school of the month for November 2015.

DPT students make a big splash

University of Dayton Doctor of Physical Therapy made a BIG SPLASH on Global PT Day of Service in October 2015, hosting a Multiple Sclerosis Aquatic Therapy Class. This fun-filled class not only helped to improve flexibility, balance, and strength, but also empowered individuals to "age well" and take an active role in their own health. This is another way for students to give back to the community and provide services for the people who need them.
