Katy Jo Brown is the School Director at the Dayton Early College Academy (DECA). As a graduate of the University of Dayton, she earned a B.S. in Middle Childhood Education. Impactful experiences through UD’s Urban Teacher Academy enabled her to begin a career at DECA in 2008 as the founding seventh grade Science teacher.

Katy Jo obtained a M.S. in Education from the University of Dayton and has been an influential leader at DECA in roles including: Assistant Principal, Science Department Chair, Coach of the FIRST Robotics team, and STEM Fellow.

In the community, Katy Jo serves on the advisory boards for College Mentors for Kids and the UD’s Teacher Education Department.


Charlie Bull

image of charlie bullCharlie Bull is the Assistant Principal at DECA PREP, the partner elementary school to the Dayton Early College Academy (DECA). A graduate of the University of Dayton, he earned a B.S. in Middle Childhood Education, was a member of the Urban Teacher Academy and served in the Fitz Center’s Neighborhood School Centers.

Charlie started his career at DECA in 2010 as a seventh grade Language Arts teacher. Helping to expand the DECA culture, he served as a founding faculty member at DECA PREP. He taught sixth grade Language Arts and Social Studies.

Charlie earned a M.A. in Educational Leadership from Columbia University’s Teachers College.
