Message from the Dean

September 2015

Dear SEHS Alumni and Friends:

image of Dr. KellyThis issue is our first communication to alumni since the Dayton Educator was phased out in 2010. We can’t wait to make up for lost time and catch you up on some of the great recent developments in the School of Education and Health Sciences (SEHS)! This issue brings you news regarding Fitz Hall, our new academic home on campus. We have wonderfully designed new classrooms, labs and community areas on the sixth floor of the former College Park Center. The views of campus and surrounding Dayton community are spectacular. This issue also brings news of the successful inception of the Physician Assistant master’s program, our latest addition in the health science area. Students from across the country are enrolling in this rapidly expanding medical specialty. This issue describes the national recognition earned by our Early Childhood Education program from the National Council on Teacher Quality. This recognition is the latest evidence of the Department of Teacher Education’s tradition of excellence. You will also find interesting the international collaboration that has been established by our Physical Therapy faculty and students. Finally, we bring you news items about our faculty, student, staff, and alumni accomplishments and contributions. Our faculty and staff do wonderful work in fulfilling the Marianist mission of our University – and meeting the challenge to “adapt and change.” I hope you enjoy this newsletter. Come visit us the next time you are close to campus.
