Innovate and Contemplate

The Center for Catholic Education presents the Catholic Education Summit: Contemplation and Technology in Catholic Schools!

image of ces logoFather William Joseph Chaminade, founder of the Society of Mary, spent hours in prayer and contemplation at the shrine of our Lady of the Pillar where, guided by God’s Spirit, he envisioned innovative missionary strategies that the signs of the time were urgently demanding.

Please join us for the fifth annual Catholic Education Summit aligned with the National Standards and Benchmarks for Effective Catholic Elementary and Secondary Catholic Schools where we will explore contemplation as part of mission and identity and technological innovation in pursuit of academic excellence.  In addition to studying the wisdom of incorporating contemplation into the life and culture of Catholic schools and technological innovation as the means to bolstering the tradition of Catholic education, we will examine the integration and complimentary nature of technology and contemplation within the tapestry of Catholic school culture.

Our day of study will conclude with a celebration or twenty years of faith, learning, leadership and service by the University of Dayton Center for Catholic Education.

  • When: Friday, June 24th, 2016 from 8am to 4pm
  • Where: University of Dayton River Campus
  • Cost: $25 per person; $100 per team for a school team up to 6

The Institute for Pastoral Initiatives presents Christian Meditation For Children!

image of vclff logoThe tradition of Christian prayer is one of the ways in which the tradition of faith takes shape and grows, especially through the contemplation and study of believers who treasure in their hearts the events and words of the economy of salvation, and through their profound grasp of the spiritual realities they experience. "Seek in reading and you will find in meditating; knock in mental prayer and it will be opened to you by contemplation." Contemplation is a gaze of faith, fixed on Jesus.

Join internationally known, Sister Angela Ann Zukowski, Executive Director of the University of Dayton Institute for Pastoral Initiatives and Paul Tratnyek as the illuminate the Christian Meditation Movement for Children now growing through wisdom in grace in Australia and Canada.  The practice will be introduced at the Catholic Education Summit and a “deeper dive” will be witnessed by those experiencing this day.

  • When: Saturday, June 25th, 2016 from 8am to 3pm
  • Where: Mount Saint John; Dayton, Ohio
