    Bio: Nina Varney is a second year MS student in the Electrical and Computer Engineering department at the University of Dayton. Nina is also a graduate research assistant at the University of Dayton Vision Lab (Center of Excellence for Computer Vision and Wide Area Surveillance Research) working under Dr. Vijayan Asari , Ohio Research Scholars Endowed Chair in Wide Area Surveillance. With a concentration in image processing and computer vision research, her primary research focus is LiDAR data analysis for region segmentation and object classification, with an emphasis on low resolution LiDAR imagery. Nina has completed nine publications in the related areas, including invitations for oral presentations at SPIE Conference on Defense + Security, SPIE Remote Sensing Conference and OSA Imaging and Applied Optics Congress.  Other research interests include 3D registration and change detection, wide area surveillance, object recognition, 3D scene reconstruction and automatic target detection. She received her bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Dayton in December of 2013.
