Nanofabrication:principles to laboratory practice by Dr. Andrew Sarangan

This book is designed to introduce typical cleanroom processes, techniques, and their fundamental principles. It is written for the practicing scientist or engineer, with a focus on being able to transition the information from the book to the laboratory. Basic theory such as electromagnetics and electrochemistry is described in as much depth as necessary to understand and explain the current practice and their limitations. Examples from various areas of interest will be covered, such as the fabrication of photonic devices including photo detectors, waveguides, and optical coatings, which are not commonly found in other fabrication texts. Click here to go to CRC Press website for more information.

Dr. Peter Powers passes away

Peter E. Powers, a professor of Physics and Electro-Optics at the University of Dayton, USA, passed away Saturday, 10 May 2014.  He was 49 when he passed away. More.

Dr. Powers and Dr. Zhan become OSA fellows

Peter Powers, Professor of EO and physics, was named an OSA Fellow in 2014 “for fundamental studies of nonlinear parametric interactions and for practical applications to the development of optical parametric devices operating from infrared to terahertz regimes." Peter is also Fellow of SPIE.

Qiwen Zhan, Professor of EO and ECE, was also named OSA Fellow in 2014 “for seminal contributions to the development of new optical polarization engineering techniques for controlling light-matter interactions on the nanometer scale." Qiwen is also Fellow of SPIE.
