    Employment Opportunities - 2017 Summer Engineering Camps

    School of Engineering Students:

    Please consider applying for these positions, even if you don't yet know your summer schedule. From past experience, we know that many employers, including co-op employers, will allow a week off to work as a summer counselor at our engineering camps.

    Below is the School of Engineering summer camp program information for 2017 and a link to the google form application to be a counselor this summer. The School of Engineering hosts four summer programs:

    Minority Engineering & Technology Honors Enrichment Camp (METEC) – This is a camp for minority male students who will be high school seniors in the fall of 2017.  

    • Camp dates: June 18-24, 2017
    • Counselor work dates: June 17-24, 2017
    • Approximately 6 counselor positions available
    • (METEC counselors must be male students)

    Women in Engineering (WIE) – This is an all-female program for high school students currently enrolled in grades 9, 10 or 11.  

    • Camp dates: July 9-14, 2017 
    • Counselor work dates: July 8-14, 2017
    • Approximately 10 counselor positions available
    • (WIE counselors must be female students)

    Summer Honors Engineering Camp (SHEC) - This is a co-ed program for high school students currently enrolled in grades 9, 10 or 11 identified as an honor student with GPA of 3.5/4.0.

    • Camp dates: July 16-21, 2017
    • Counselor work dates: July 15-21, 2017
    • Approximately 12 counselor positions available
    • (Male and female counselors are needed for SHEC)

    Minority STEM Summer Bridge Program – This program is for minority STEM students accepted to UD beginning in the fall of 2017.  

    • Camp dates: July 23-29, 2017
    • Counselor work dates: July 22-29, 2017
    • Approximately 8 counselor positions available
    • (Male and female counselors are needed for STEM; Must be students who have previously attended this program)

    There will be two MANDATORY training sessions for those selected to the positions:

    • Friday, March 24, from 4-8 p.m.
    • Friday, April 7, from 4-6 p.m.

    Counselors will begin work one day before the start of camp (dates listed above) and must be available for the entire duration of the camp.  Lodging and food for the week are included, and these are paid positions (see approximate compensations below).

    Approximate Compensation

    You can expect to earn approximately: (based on number of hours worked for 7.5 days)

    • $850 - counselor
    • $925 - assistant head counselor
    • $1,000 - head counselor

    You can expect to earn approximately: (based on number of hours worked for 6.5 days)

    • $750 - counselor
    • $820 - assistant head counselor
    • $875 - head counselor
