New Pharmacy Benefit Manager for 2018

Beginning January 1, 2018 CVS Caremark will replace Express Scripts as the university’s pharmacy benefit manager. What does this mean to you?  There is no requirement to use CVS retail pharmacies, and no changes to copayments are being made.  As an active employee enrolled in any of the university’s health care plans, you will receive a new prescription drug ID card, in addition to a new Anthem ID card. This new CVS Caremark prescription drug ID card is for use when filling prescriptions only, and your Anthem ID card will be used for any other medical services that you receive. Any current prescriptions you have with the Express Scripts mail order program (excluding controlled substances and compound medications) will be transferred to CVS Caremark without any action on your part. The formulary list for the CVS Caremark program may be found on the HR website under the Open Enrollment section. In December, CVS Caremark will send a detailed notification to anyone who may have a change in their prescription drug tier, listing options available to you and your physician. The CVS Customer Care line will be available beginning January 1, 2018 and will be communicated at a later date.
